Update time once more! Not a ton has been going on this month, but I wanted to take a second to talk about what has been on my agenda during July.
Writing
Still chipping away at my novel project that’s in its early, early drafts, but it has been a nice bit of stability to be writing every day.
For any writers, artists or performers in California right now, I would recommend checking out the California COVID Diaries, a project through the California State Library to record and encapsulate people’s varied experiences through this very difficult time. Looking back on quarantine after the fact is going to be very strange, and there will be a lot of forces trying to retroactively clean up the narrative, so lets share our experiences while they’re fresh.
Events
The Traveling Triple-C Incorporeal Circus is being featured as part of the Glitter and Hope StoryBundle, where you can purchase it along with up to ten other books. As of this posting, there are less than six hours left to grab one, so hurry on over and snap them up now!
Reading and Watching Resolutions
I was flying through books for a lot of July! Of what I read, I would definitely recommend The Fifth Season and Regretting Motherhood, though I was more lukewarm on Replica and The Iliac Crest (neither of which were intended for me as an audience, so I can’t get too upset). I’m currently alternating between the sci-fi novel The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu and the short story anthology Our Happy Hours: LGBT Voices from the Gay Bars, so look forward to reviews of both of those.
General
Just more getting through! California is still in lock-down, but we are holding strong. Take care, everyone!
