This past weekend was a whirlwind of wonderful times. My ten-minute play “Third Date” is still running as part of this year’s Best of PlayGround (and will be running through May 26th). Additionally, on Saturday May 18th, I was honored to receive this year’s June Anne Baker Prize:
In 2002, PlayGround launched its first full-length play commissioning programs, the June Anne Baker Prize and the PlayGround Fellowship. The June Anne Baker Prize, established by PlayGround supporter John H. Gilman in memory of his late wife, honors the top female playwright each year, representing a gifted new comedic or political voice for the stage, and includes a full-length play commission.

It truly meant a lot to me to be honored as an upcoming female playwright and to be given this opportunity. John Gilman, the entire board of PlayGround, and directors Jim Kleinmann and Annie Stuart have all been incredibly welcoming and supportive and I cannot wait to continue to grow as an artist with PlayGround and the Bay Area theater scene as a whole.
